CELEBRITY SUMMIT
September 18, 2026 | Los Angeles, California
Celebrity Summit (Celebrity Cruises) was docked in Los Angeles on September 18, 2026, between two music-themed charter cruises. The ship completed The Smooth Jazz Cruise’s voyage from Vancouver before preparing to sail north on Botti at Sea III.
Celebrity Summit entered service in 2001 as the third ship in Celebrity Cruises’ Millennium class. Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, she followed Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Infinity, with Celebrity Constellation completing the four-ship group the following year. Originally named Summit, she received the Celebrity prefix in 2008 as the company adopted a consistent naming style across its fleet.
The Millennium class combined spacious passenger accommodations and public areas with a gas turbine-based electric power system and podded propulsion. Over the following decades, Celebrity Summit underwent several modernizations, including a major refurbishment in 2019 that redesigned accommodations, restaurants and lounges while introducing The Retreat facilities for suite guests.
Her September 18, 2026, visit to Los Angeles came during a turnaround between two music-themed charter voyages. The ship arrived at the conclusion of The Smooth Jazz Cruise’s seven-night sailing from Vancouver and prepared to begin Botti at Sea III, a northbound voyage returning to Vancouver. This gallery documents the ship docked in Southern California between those two Pacific coast journeys.

History and Features
Launch History:
Celebrity Summit was built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France.
She was launched on March 9, 2001, and entered service later that year.
Celebrity Cruises lists her inaugural date as October 1, 2001.
She was the third Millennium-class ship, following Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Infinity.
Celebrity Constellation followed in 2002, completing the four-ship class.
Originally operating as Summit, the ship adopted the name Celebrity Summit in 2008.
Design & Technical:
The ship measures approximately 965 feet in length, with a beam of approximately 105 feet.
Her Millennium-class design incorporates extensive ocean-view and balcony accommodations.
Gas turbines supply electrical power for propulsion and shipboard operations.
Two Mermaid propulsion pods provide thrust and maneuverability.
Celebrity currently lists a guest capacity of approximately 2,218 and a gross tonnage of approximately 91,000 GT.
The ship’s public spaces and accommodation layout support both regular cruises and full-ship charter events.
Modernization and Features:
A major refurbishment in 2012 introduced features associated with Celebrity’s newer Solstice-class ships.
In 2019, Celebrity Summit underwent a further transformation as part of the Celebrity Revolution program.
The work included redesigned staterooms and suites, refreshed dining venues and updated bars and lounges.
The Retreat introduced a dedicated sundeck and redesigned lounge for suite guests.
The Oceanview Café, main dining room, Sunset Bar and Rendezvous Lounge were among the public areas updated.
The ship’s theater and other entertainment spaces also provide venues for the performances presented during music charters.
Service:
Celebrity Summit has operated in regions including Alaska, the Pacific coast, the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Panama Canal.
Alongside scheduled Celebrity cruises, the ship has hosted music-themed charter voyages.
The Smooth Jazz Cruise’s September 11–18, 2026, sailing traveled from Vancouver to Los Angeles, with calls at Victoria and San Francisco.
September 18 marked the end of that southbound voyage and the beginning of Botti at Sea III.
The northbound Botti at Sea itinerary included an overnight visit to San Francisco and a call at Victoria before reaching Vancouver on September 25.
The Los Angeles turnaround linked two consecutive music charters traveling in opposite directions along the Pacific coast.
Los Angeles – September 18, 2026:
These photographs show Celebrity Summit docked during her Southern California turnaround.
Los Angeles served as the disembarkation port for The Smooth Jazz Cruise and the embarkation port for Botti at Sea III.
The new voyage was scheduled to depart Los Angeles that afternoon.
Following a day at sea, the ship was due to reach San Francisco on September 20 for an overnight stay.
The visit adds a contemporary record of Celebrity Summit in Los Angeles to the Ocean Liner Photography collection.
Notable Notes:
Celebrity Summit is one of four Millennium-class ships built for Celebrity Cruises.
Her original interiors included decorative pieces associated with the French ocean liner Normandie, connecting the modern cruise ship with earlier passenger-ship history.
The ship’s name was still Summit during her earlier 2006 Los Angeles visit documented elsewhere in the collection.
By September 2026, she had completed nearly twenty-five years of service and several major modernizations.
