The Viking Skadi took us on an unforgettable 15-day Grand European Tour, sailing from Budapest to Amsterdam from July 3 to July 20, 2024. This journey through the heart of Europe offered breathtaking views along the Danube, Main, and Rhine Rivers, with stops in iconic cities and charming towns across Hungary, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.

On July 26, 2024, the SS Rotterdam, a historic ocean liner and former flagship of Holland America Line, remains docked as a floating hotel and museum in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This iconic vessel, launched in 1959, has been beautifully preserved to showcase the elegance of mid-century ocean travel.

In July 2004, we embarked on the RMS Queen Mary 2 (Cunard Line) for an 11-day cruise from Southampton, UK, marking a series of inaugural visits to the Baltic Sea and Northern Europe. In the summer of 2024, my son, a Cal Maritime cadet, had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience during his commercial cruise aboard the MT California, a crude oil tanker owned by Crowley Alaska Tankers.
