QUEEN ELIZABETH
June 26, 2022 | Alaska Cruise – Day 3: Glacier Bay, Alaska
Queen Elizabeth (Cunard) during scenic cruising in Glacier Bay, Alaska, on June 26, 2022—Day 3 of our seven-night Alaska cruise roundtrip from Vancouver. This gallery forms part of our June 24–July 1, 2022 voyage, which also included Icy Strait Point, Sitka and Ketchikan.
Queen Elizabeth entered service in 2010, continuing one of Cunard’s best-known ship names. She followed the original RMS Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth 2, bringing that naming tradition into a modern cruise ship designed for voyages around the world.
Her dark hull, white superstructure and red-and-black funnel reflect Cunard’s established appearance, while her interiors draw inspiration from the Art Deco style associated with the original Queen Elizabeth. Alongside her public rooms and traditional shipboard features, she offers the accommodation, dining and outdoor spaces of a contemporary cruise ship.

History and Features
Construction and Entry Into Service
Queen Elizabeth was built by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard in Italy.
She was floated out in January 2010 and completed later that year.
Queen Elizabeth II named the ship in Southampton on October 11, 2010.
Her maiden voyage departed Southampton on October 12, 2010.
She joined Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, giving Cunard a fleet of three ships bearing royal names.
Design and Features
Her Vista-class design is closely related to that of Queen Victoria.
The interiors use Art Deco influences to connect the modern ship with Cunard’s earlier Queen Elizabeth.
Major public spaces include the Grand Lobby, Queens Room, Royal Court Theatre, Commodore Club, Golden Lion pub and library.
Dining and accommodation categories include Britannia, Britannia Club, Princess Grill and Queens Grill.
Open decks, promenade areas, swimming pools and outdoor recreation spaces provide places to enjoy the scenery during voyages such as this Alaska cruise.
Service
Since entering service, Queen Elizabeth has operated cruises across multiple regions, including Europe, the Mediterranean, Asia, Australia, Alaska and the Pacific.
Her deployments have included world voyages and seasonal regional cruising.
Alaska itineraries combine coastal port calls with scenic cruising among the region’s mountains, waterways and glaciers.
Our June 2022 sailing operated roundtrip from Vancouver.

Glacier Bay – June 26, 2022
Glacier Bay was the scenic cruising destination on Day 3, following our first full day at sea.
The ship’s passage provided an opportunity to view Alaska’s coastal landscape from aboard Queen Elizabeth.
Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve encompasses mountain scenery, glacier-shaped waterways, forests and tidewater glaciers.
A cruise ship visit here involves scenic cruising, with passengers remaining aboard rather than going ashore for a conventional port call.
National Park Service rangers provide interpretation aboard visiting cruise ships, explaining the park’s natural environment and history.
These photographs document this part of our Alaska cruise on June 26, 2022.
After Glacier Bay, our voyage continued to Icy Strait Point on June 27.
Legacy
Queen Elizabeth carries forward a ship name associated with several generations of Cunard passenger shipping.
Her design combines references to that history with the facilities of a modern cruise ship.
This gallery places her within Alaska’s coastal landscape during our 2022 voyage.
Together with the other galleries from this cruise, these photographs form a firsthand record of our time aboard Queen Elizabeth.
OLP Social: Day 3 brought scenic cruising through Glacier Bay’s mountain-lined waters, before our Alaska voyage continued to Icy Strait Point, Sitka and Ketchikan.
