Delivered in 2019, Carnival Panorama is the third and final ship of Carnival Cruise Line’s Vista class, following Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon. Built by Fincantieri in Marghera, Italy, she combines extensive outdoor spaces with a wide variety of dining, entertainment, and recreation venues.

History and Features
Launch and Design:
Carnival Panorama was constructed by Fincantieri at its Marghera shipyard near Venice, Italy, and delivered to Carnival Cruise Line on October 29, 2019. She became the third and final vessel in Carnival’s Vista class, following Carnival Vista in 2016 and Carnival Horizon in 2018.
At 133,868 gross tons and 1,060 feet in length, Carnival Panorama continued the evolution of Carnival’s large resort-style cruise ships. Her design emphasizes open decks, ocean views, and a combination of indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces.
Following her delivery in Italy, Carnival Panorama crossed the Atlantic and traveled to California. She was officially named in Long Beach in December 2019, with television personality Vanna White serving as the ship’s godmother.
Design and Style:
Carnival Panorama combines the colorful and casual atmosphere traditionally associated with Carnival Cruise Line with the more contemporary design introduced aboard the Vista class.
One of the focal points of the interior is the multi-deck atrium and its large Dreamscape LED installation, which displays constantly changing digital imagery. The ship also features the Havana area, with Caribbean-inspired accommodations and dedicated outdoor spaces, as well as Family Harbor accommodations designed specifically for families.
High above the ship, SkyRide is one of the most recognizable features of the Vista-class design. The pedal-powered attraction allows passengers to travel around a suspended track overlooking the upper decks and surrounding sea.
Service:
Following her arrival in California, Carnival Panorama entered passenger service from Long Beach on December 11, 2019. Her introduction was significant for Carnival Cruise Line, marking the first new Carnival ship homeported on the West Coast in more than 20 years.
Her initial service consisted primarily of seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises, with calls at Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta.
Only a few months after entering service, Carnival Panorama was affected by the worldwide suspension of cruise operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. She remained out of regular passenger service until August 2021, when Carnival resumed cruises aboard the ship from Long Beach.
In the years following her return to service, Carnival Panorama continued operating a variety of cruises from Long Beach. Her itineraries expanded beyond the original seven-day schedule to include voyages of different lengths and calls at destinations including Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Ensenada, and La Paz.
In August 2024, Carnival Panorama departed Long Beach on an 18-day transpacific Carnival Journeys voyage to Yokohama, Japan, with calls in Alaska and Japan along the way. She then continued to Singapore for a scheduled dry dock.
Following the dry dock, Carnival Panorama departed Singapore in October 2024 on a 25-day transpacific voyage back to Long Beach. The journey included calls in Southeast Asia, Guam, and Hawaii and included Carnival Cruise Line’s first-ever visit to Manila, Philippines.
As of September 2026, Carnival Panorama is homeported in Long Beach, California, operating cruises to Mexico. Carnival’s published schedules currently include Long Beach sailings aboard the ship into the 2027–2028 cruise season, although future deployments are subject to change.
Refits and Upgrades:
In September and October 2024, Carnival Panorama underwent a scheduled 24-day dry dock in Singapore. The work included technical maintenance along with updates to several passenger areas.
A new non-smoking casino annex was added near the ship’s existing casino, while retail areas were updated with an Effy Fine Jewelry store and a Carnival Adventures shop. A Dreams Studio photography space was also added, and the miniature golf course received updates.
One of the most visible changes was the application of Carnival Cruise Line’s red, white, and blue hull livery. Carnival Panorama was the final ship in Carnival’s fleet at the time to receive the new design, completing the fleetwide rollout of the updated exterior colors.
The ship returned to passenger service in October 2024.
Features and Innovations:
Carnival Panorama introduced Sky Zone, the first trampoline park aboard a cruise ship. The indoor recreation space distinguishes her from her earlier Vista-class sister ships and offers a variety of trampoline and activity experiences.
She also carries several features introduced aboard earlier Vista-class ships, including SkyRide, WaterWorks, the Havana accommodations and pool area, and Family Harbor.
The ship offers an extensive selection of dining, entertainment, and recreation venues, along with theaters, lounges, bars, casino facilities, shopping areas, swimming pools, spa facilities, and open-deck spaces.
Legacy:
As the third and final member of Carnival Cruise Line’s original Vista class, Carnival Panorama represents an important stage in the evolution of the company’s modern fleet. The Vista-class ships introduced several concepts and attractions that helped shape the larger Carnival ships that followed.
Her arrival in Long Beach in 2019 also marked an important point in Carnival’s history on the West Coast, bringing a newly built Carnival ship directly to the port rather than relocating an older vessel there later in its career.
Her service has extended well beyond the Mexican Riviera. The ship’s 2024 transpacific voyages took Carnival Panorama across the Pacific to Japan and Southeast Asia and included Carnival Cruise Line’s first call at Manila.
