August 25, 2026 | Corfu, Greece

Norwegian Viva (Norwegian Cruise Line) visited Corfu, Greece, on August 25, 2026, during a nine-night Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Ravenna. We saw the Prima-class ship during our own visit aboard Oosterdam, on Day 4 of our 14-night cruise from Athens to Barcelona.

Norwegian Viva visited Corfu, Greece, on August 25, 2026, during a nine-night Mediterranean voyage from Barcelona to Ravenna. We encountered the ship while visiting the island aboard Oosterdam, on Day 4 of our 14-night cruise from Athens to Barcelona. The shared port call brought together two ships representing different generations of contemporary cruise-ship design.

Delivered in August 2023, Norwegian Viva was the second ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima class, following Norwegian Prima. Built by Fincantieri at Marghera, Italy, she introduced another example of the class’s emphasis on outdoor waterfront spaces, varied dining venues and large-scale recreational attractions.

The Corfu visit came just over three years after Norwegian Viva entered passenger service. Her published itinerary placed the island between Messina, Sicily, and Bar, Montenegro, before the voyage continued to Split and concluded in Ravenna. These photographs form part of our record of the ships encountered during our own Mediterranean journey aboard Oosterdam.

History and Features

Construction and the Prima Class:

  • Norwegian Viva was built at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard near Venice, Italy.

  • Norwegian Cruise Line took delivery of the ship on August 3, 2023.

  • She followed Norwegian Prima, which entered service in 2022, as the second vessel in the Prima class.

  • The class introduced a different arrangement of public spaces from Norwegian’s preceding Breakaway and Breakaway Plus ships, with particular attention to outdoor areas closer to the water.

  • Her construction continued the collaboration between Norwegian Cruise Line and Fincantieri on a new generation of cruise ships.

Entry into Service:

  • Norwegian Viva welcomed her first passengers on August 10, 2023, departing from Trieste, Italy.

  • Her maiden voyage sailed through the Mediterranean toward Lisbon.

  • The ship’s inaugural European season preceded her move to the Caribbean later that year.

  • Luis Fonsi served as godfather at her christening in Miami on November 28, 2023.

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico, became her homeport for her first winter Caribbean season.

Ocean Boulevard:

  • Ocean Boulevard is a broad outdoor promenade wrapping around the ship.

  • The arrangement provides space for walking, dining and relaxing outside the main interior public rooms.

  • Infinity Beach incorporates infinity-style swimming pools within this waterfront setting.

  • Oceanwalk includes glass bridges extending the connection between the promenade and the sea below.

  • These spaces are defining features of the Prima-class approach to outdoor passenger areas.

Viva Speedway and Recreation:

  • Viva Speedway is a three-level go-kart track occupying part of the ship’s upper decks.

  • The track continues Norwegian Cruise Line’s development of onboard racing attractions.

  • The Drop and The Rush dry slides provide additional recreational features.

  • Together, these attractions combine the ship’s outdoor deck areas with activities more commonly associated with shoreside entertainment venues.

Dining and Indulge Food Hall:

  • Indulge Food Hall brings several dining concepts together within a shared venue.

  • The arrangement offers a different experience from a conventional single-counter buffet.

  • The ship also provides a range of specialty restaurants, bars and more traditional dining spaces.

  • Outdoor seating forms part of the broader connection between dining venues and the ship’s waterfront areas.

  • The variety of venues reflects Norwegian Cruise Line’s emphasis on flexible dining choices.

Art and Interior Design:

  • The ship’s hull artwork was created by Italian artist Manuel Di Rita, known as Peeta.

  • His work also appears on Norwegian Prima, providing a visual connection between the sister ships.

  • The Concourse is an outdoor sculpture garden incorporated into Ocean Boulevard.

  • At Metropolitan Bar, Dominic Harris’s interactive digital artwork, “Every Wing Has a Silver Lining,” responds to passing movement.

  • Art is therefore incorporated into both the ship’s exterior identity and its passenger spaces.

August 25, 2026 – Corfu:

  • The Corfu call formed part of Norwegian Viva’s nine-night voyage departing Barcelona on August 19.

  • Her published schedule listed Messina on August 24, followed by Corfu on August 25.

  • Bar, Montenegro, and Split, Croatia, were the next scheduled calls.

  • The voyage was scheduled to conclude in Ravenna on August 28.

  • This itinerary connected the western Mediterranean with the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic, combining ports in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia.

Our Oosterdam Cruise:

  • We saw Norwegian Viva during our own Corfu visit aboard Oosterdam.

  • August 25 was Day 4 of our August 22–September 5, 2026, cruise from Athens to Barcelona.

  • Corfu followed our visit to Kotor, Montenegro, the previous day.

  • Our voyage continued to Messina on August 26 before an overnight call at Salerno.

  • Although Norwegian Viva appears in this gallery, our cruise was aboard Oosterdam; the photographs document another ship encountered along the way.

  • OLP Social: Calling during a nine-night voyage from Barcelona to Ravenna, the Prima-class ship shared the port with Oosterdam on Day 4 of our Athens-to-Barcelona cruise.
