QUEEN ANNE
On December 14, 2025, the Queen Anne (Cunard) was in Southampton, United Kingdom, following an overnight voyage from Hamburg. Introduced in 2024 as Cunard’s newest ship, Queen Anne combines the line’s traditional ocean liner influences with a new generation of design and passenger spaces.
CARNIVAL SUNRISE
Early on the morning of April 4, 2026, the Carnival Sunrise (Carnival Cruise Line) was docked at PortMiami before departing later that day for a five-night cruise to the Bahamas. Originally entering service as Carnival Triumph in 1999, the ship was extensively rebuilt and renamed Carnival Sunrise in 2019.
SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR
On August 29, 2026, the Seven Seas Navigator (Regent Seven Seas Cruises) was in Civitavecchia, Italy, during a nine-night Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona. Entering service in 1999, the intimate luxury ship was photographed during her final season with Regent after more than 25 years with the cruise line.
CELESTYAL JOURNEY
On August 22, 2026, the Celestyal Journey (Celestyal Cruises) was in Piraeus, Greece, during her summer season in the Mediterranean. Originally entering service as Holland America Line’s Ryndam in 1994, the ship has sailed under several names and operators during a career spanning more than three decades.
SUN PRINCESS
On August 22, 2026, the Sun Princess (Princess Cruises) was in Piraeus, Greece, at the beginning of a Mediterranean cruise from Athens. Introduced in 2024 as the first of Princess Cruises’ new Sphere Class, the ship is easily recognized by the large glass Sphere built into the sides of her superstructure.
MSC WORLD AMERICA
In the early morning hours of April 4, 2026, the MSC World America (MSC Cruises) was docked at PortMiami before sunrise. With the ship fully illuminated against the dark morning sky, it was a great opportunity to see one of MSC Cruises’ newest and largest ships before the start of another day in Miami.
MEIN SCHIFF FLOW
On August 29, 2026, the Mein Schiff Flow (TUI Cruises) was in Civitavecchia, Italy, during her first season of service. Delivered just a few months earlier, the new InTUItion-class ship was an especially interesting sight so early in her career.
CARNIVAL PANORAMA
On June 6, 2026, the Carnival Panorama (Carnival Cruise Line) was docked in Long Beach, California, preparing for another cruise to Mexico. The Vista-class ship has been a regular visitor to the port since beginning service from Long Beach in 2019.
RMS QUEEN MARY
RMS Queen Mary is seen from across Long Beach Harbor on June 25, 2026. Permanently moored in Long Beach since 1967, the former Cunard liner remains one of the most significant surviving passenger ships of the twentieth century and an enduring part of the city’s waterfront.
SS UNITED STATES MODEL
This model of SS United States became part of the Ocean Liner Photography collection on June 15, 2025, after the passing of a friend's father. Along with his collection of maritime books, the model was given to me to preserve and became a meaningful addition to my own collection. Although its maker, age and scale are unknown, the model represents one of the most important American ocean liners ever built and preserves another small connection to the people who have shared an interest in these great ships.
QUEEN ELIZABETH
Queen Elizabeth (Cunard) arrived at Icy Strait Point, Alaska, on June 27, 2022, for Day 4 of our seven-night Alaska cruise. Following the previous day's scenic cruising in Glacier Bay, the visit brought the ship to the waters near Hoonah for our next port call before continuing to Sitka.
AMADEA
Amadea (Phoenix Reisen) was in San Francisco on February 6, 2026, during an extended three-day call at Pier 35. The former Japanese cruise ship Asuka shared the port that day with Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, bringing together two very different generations of passenger ships before Amadea continued her world voyage across the Pacific toward Hawaii and Japan.
EUROPA 2
EUROPA 2 (Hapag-Lloyd Cruises) was in Los Angeles on January 25, 2026, at the midpoint between two long-distance voyages. The small luxury ship had completed a 17-day cruise from Colón, Panama, and was preparing to depart that evening on a 20-day Pacific voyage from Los Angeles to Tahiti.
SONG OF NORWAY
My first cruise was a seven-day Caribbean voyage aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Song of Norway in March 1990, sailing roundtrip from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Only a few photographs remain, but the memories are vivid: skeet shooting at sea and standing in front of the ship during our visit to St. Maarten. That voyage began a lasting fascination with cruising and life aboard passenger ships.
QUEEN ELIZABETH
Queen Elizabeth (Cunard) departed Los Angeles Harbor on the evening of September 30, 2025, during a voyage south toward Mexico, Central America, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean. The Vista-class cruise ship had arrived that morning before continuing toward Cabo San Lucas as daylight faded over the Southern California coast.
QUEEN ELIZABETH 2
This collection preserves original paperwork and memorabilia from our honeymoon crossing aboard Queen Elizabeth 2 (Cunard), sailing from Southampton to New York on April 14–20, 1999. Voyage 1160 celebrated QE2’s 30th anniversary in service and formed the final transatlantic leg of her 1999 World Cruise.
SOUTHWARD
Our three-night Baja cruise aboard Southward began in Los Angeles on July 30, 1993, with visits to Catalina Island and Ensenada before returning on August 2. One of Norwegian Cruise Line’s early ships, she brought the smaller scale of 1970s cruising to Southern California’s popular short-cruise market.
AZURE SEAS
In March 1990, we traveled aboard Azure Seas (Admiral Cruises) from Los Angeles to Ensenada, Mexico. Originally built as the ocean liner Southern Cross, the ship later became a familiar part of the Southern California cruise scene and helped establish the popularity of short cruises from Los Angeles.
QUEEN MARY 2
In December 2024, we traveled aboard Queen Mary 2 (Cunard Line) on a seven-night eastbound transatlantic crossing from New York to Southampton. Departing New York on December 3, the voyage spent six uninterrupted days at sea before arriving in Southampton on December 10. The crossing took place during Queen Mary 2's 20th year of service and continued Cunard's long tradition of scheduled passenger service across the North Atlantic.
